Mustard Seed Project helps individuals navigate barriers.
Factors such as poor social networks, lack of basic needs, severe mental illness, physical disabilities, language barriers, and stigma attribute to individual homelessness.
We train and educate college students to provide low-barrier case management services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Whereas a full-time case manager has anywhere from 40-50 clients, our Volunteer Service Navigators only have a case load of 3, with 5 being the maximum. In conjunction with a rigorous recruitment process, evidence-based training, and collaborative case conferences, the small caseload ratio allows our volunteers to provide person-centered, quality case management services.

Volunteer Case Management
Community Service Navigation
We believe in helping individuals achieve their goals, whether through building resumes, finding employment, applying for government benefits, housing applications or finding resources. Our trained student Service Navigators and clients develop action plans that are specific, time-oriented, measurable, realistic, and achievable.
We believe that every human being is deserving of respect, compassion, and hope. We work with clients with unconditional positive regard. Every individual, regardless of circumstance or capability, deserves emotional support, affirmation, and motivation to reach the next stage of their lives.
Community Relief Funds
Qualifying homeless individuals and families in our case management program are eligible for emergency funding for rental assistance, bus vouchers, basic needs, and medicine. The goal of our fund is not a hand-out, but rather to relieve the stress of day-to-day survival, allowing our clients to focus on getting their lives back on track.
* Due to finals and the holidays, Volunteers Service Navigation will not assign new clients to navigators between Dec 14th - Jan 4th. Organizations may refer new clients, but our volunteer navigators will not take on additional case load.
